I am so glad I let the internet convince me to read this book. It did not lie when it said this is a top tier read. Oh my god. If you’re looking for a new book boyfriend to obsess over, look no further. Pick up this book and meet Draven. Please, do yourself that favor. Empire of Flames and Thorns has dragon shifters, trials, magic, a growing fae resistance, and so much more. And for tropes, you’ve got “touch her and die”, one bed, enemies to lovers (like real enemies to lovers), and the wittiest banter. My whole existence was in the sky reading this book. Draven can have me. No questions asked.

But like normal review stuff, it’s in the first person through the perspective of Selena. She is fierce and soooooooooo relatable as a woman. I truly love her character. I was completely focused and hooked on this book the whole time I read it. I couldn’t put it down. The ending killed me. The cliffhanger was the absolute worst. I thought I had figured it out while reading, but I didn’t and the twist is so wild. This was the easiest 5 star ever. I would spice level is a 3/5. This is one big spicy scene (so good) and a few smaller ones.

Seriously, read this. The fourth book comes out on October so you’ve got some time to read the rest of the series.
