If These Wings Could Fly by Kyrie McCauley

4.0

I would say the magical realism of the book isn't an intertwined in as something by [a:A.S. King|1651879|A.S. King|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1323437957p2/1651879.jpg] or [a:Anna-Marie McLemore|6434877|Anna-Marie McLemore|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1516319453p2/6434877.jpg], it serves more as a catalyst and deus ex machina, so I wouldn't recommend it on that alone. But the book is marvelous at showcasing the helplessness and constant fear of being in a domestic violence situation, and the agony of feeling abandoned, like other people are looking the other way.
