I enjoy outlandish horror, but part of what scares me is when it is grounded in some reality. I loved the concept of the house trying to bring itself to life, but i was distracted by how annoying/one-note the main characters were.
No one had a redeeming moment. Sabrina was unlikable and constantly gaslit by her family. I couldn't tell if Damien was supposed to be comedic relief. His random side quests were ridiculous and impossible. Everyone was a basic stereotype and uncreative. The house coming alive and marching off was the most interesting "scary" part of this short story. I wanted/needed more lore of the house. The neighbor was so lackluster even though she was supposed to be the quirky one. The random side stories of the police chief offing himself was unnecessary.
Not scary.
