Dragon Hoops by Gene Luen Yang
4.0
This is a graphic novel that I can easily put in the hands of the most reluctant of readers.
The story was inspirational, educational, and quite moving. I even got choked up at the end (and I don't usually cry in books).
The artwork was engaging, and I especially liked the color schemes for the historical sections. I appreciated the way the storyline unfolded - back story, historical elements about the school basketball program and the history of basketball, individual team member bios.
I couldn't help but connect to the characters in the story, and found myself rooting for them throughout the story.
