Dumb Witness by Agatha Christie

4.0

In this Hercule Poirot mystery, Agatha Christie has Captain Hastings as Dr Doolittle and a talking dog! That did make me laugh as it was so unexpected! Poor Bob, the terrier, even gets blamed for his mistress' fall, when he wasn't even there!

It was still an engrossing read. Agatha Christie played her usual tricks with quite a few red herrings, multiple possible culprits and Poirot's grey cells, though he seems to have done rather a lot of legwork in this book!

A special mention to Mrs Peabody who is far from being a fool and saw through Poirot so clearly straightaway!

Another enjoyable Agatha Christie read.

Warning for those who are not used to reading books by the #queenofcrimefiction. There are quite a few not very politically correct comments by several characters. This book was published in 1937 and, when reading her books, always check when it was written to be aware of the political "sentiments" of the time.
