Series goes out with a whimper, not a bang. I think its biggest flaw was just being pretty boring. I found myself routinely losing interest and it was a struggle to finish the book. I can't say I liked any of the characters, really, either.
Spoiler and why is Michi the character who has to die! You had one good character and you have her die for what appears to be no real reason. But Kin gets to survive his glorious sacrifice because apparently he has massive plot armor even after he takes off his suit. And while we're on the topic of unfortunate authorial decisions, I love how the entire world is fixed and healed when the war ends. Very Lion King. Completely believable that all the massive political and societal issues will just be magically fixed.
