Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

5.0

Words cannot describe how this book made me feel as a white person, but as I read through each of the pages, I felt a sense of shame that Adeyemi was trying to capture. In light of recent events this is a book everyone should be reading. Pain, sorrow, laughter, and a serious message of racist speech pierces the pages and comes alive by the brilliant Tomi Adeyemi's writing. She is highlighting the truth about the dominant culture in a way which reflects the experiences of modern day Black people, with Nigerian culture and a sense of pride also running through. As a white person who tries to be an ally, I can never feel the emotions encapsulated by the charachters in this book, but the message spurs me on the stand in solidarity with others.
