Black Widow, Vol. 1: The Finely Woven Thread by Nathan Edmondson
3.0
2.5 stars, really.
The good: Consistent, beautiful art. Natasha deliberately tries to *not kill* various henchmen baddies, and their little dog too. In fact, her way of dealing with a trained attack/guard dog was probably my favourite moment of this book. Especially when contrasted to [b:She-Hulk, Vol. 2: Disorderly Conduct|23017946|She-Hulk, Vol. 2 Disorderly Conduct|Charles Soule|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1427558935s/23017946.jpg|42587496], which I reviewed recently and was put off by multiple instances of unnecessary brutality against animals by our otherwise smart and justice-loving protagonist.
The bad: Too many forced spider metaphors and other narrative-driven comparisons between Black Widow and various animals. Nothing too exciting ever happens in this book. It was just mediocre all around in terms of the plot and script.
