The Body: A Guide for Occupants by Bill Bryson

funny informative reflective medium-paced

3.0

This was an entertaining and engaging deep dive into the systems that govern our body, but the confusing, and what felt like uncharacteristically dismissive and shallow, analysis of weight and its impact on health was distracting and discouraging. It felt odd for a medical expert to cite studies and questionable statistics that challenged each other to only conclude with, "one need only look around to see that there is a lot of excess flesh." This prevents me from broadly recommending the book, which is disappointing, because many other chapters were fascinating reveals.
