Most of these gigantic crossover stories explain everything pretty well, whereas Infinity just keeps piling on cosmic layers and villains until you've completely lost track of why anything is happening. It's really two stories just sort of jammed together, and I think each would be better off as a separate book. Thanos' invasion of Earth would be the more interesting story but frankly it serves as filler to make the "worlds are being destroyed but also the universe is being destroyed" story longer.
