Star Wars Adventures, Vol. 1: Heroes of the Galaxy by Landry Q. Walker, Cavan Scott

3.0

I don't know what niche this book fills, and I don't understand the ins and outs of why there is now another comics publisher in addition to Marvel that has the rights to Star Wars. But for what it is, Star Wars Adventures is a quick, fun, colorful little book. The art style is totally different from what the Marvel series are doing, and I like it. It looks a lot like the original Clone Wars animated series.

This book has no continuous narrative; it's just an anthology of short stories about various characters in the galaxy. At the beginning, it seems like the anthology will be united by every story being told by C3PO, but that is not the case. There are attempts at humor, which sometimes work, and there is a general lightheartedness that I welcome. I wish there was a little more substance and complexity in at least some of the stories, but it's still a pretty enjoyable and very quick read. As with nearly every Star Wars publication: not worth buying, but okay to check out from the library.
