I LOVED this book, Du Maurier's writing style is soooo amazing, it's flowery and expressive w/out feeling like it's too much, I would eat up anything she wrote she's THAT good.
The plot is so good,
you're left wondering if Rachel actually did it or not, because while there's a lot of evidence that she did it, there's as much evidence that she didn't, I love the ambiguity of it, we're left wondering about it like Philip in the end. However I do think she came there w/ marrying Philip in mind, in fact I think the reason she even married Ambrose was money, maybe she loved him along the way idk

I also enjoy the complexity of  Du Maurier's female characters, and also the way she calls out misogyny in a clever way, men in the stories often put women in boxes because they can't fathom there's more to them, and that's very very clear from Philip's idea of Rachel, the way he talks about her from start to finish is from one extreme to another, it's like he doesn't see how she can be all those things, same w/ Louise.
the last sentence knocked my breath away tbh, so so good.
