The Inkling by K.T. Ivanrest

5.0

"The Inkling" is an entertaining and well-written short story based on an intriguing concept. I loved the idea of a world where Artists do magic with ink, and it was interesting to see how that magic was learned and used in different ways in the world. I'm always impressed when authors are able to pack so much great world and character development into something so short, and I definitely saw that here. All the characters in the story, even the minor ones, have a life of their own and feel real. Yeta and Reku especially have believable motivations and complex histories, which makes the twist at the end of the story and Yeta's realization so much more impactful. If you're looking for an immersive, character-driven tale of adventure and magic, this is definitely worth your time.
