I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai

4.0

The subtext, “The girl who stood up for education and was shot by the Taliban,” doesn’t do Malala justice. She defied the Taliban, she survived the Taliban, and she fought through a bullet in the head to continue her advocacy for education — especially for young women — in countries like Pakistan. What an amazing, bold author and activist. Her story may be somewhat jumpy at times, but she keeps returning to her core principles and a family that supported her, all while describing the horrors of a corrupt government and savage terrorist organization. Important read.
