Words on Bathroom Walls
by Julia Walton
This is a young adult book and (seemingly) a good representation of a student with schizophrenia. If anything, it helped me understand this mental illness more than I knew before. I didn't care for how this story was delivered. Adam wasn't non-verbal yet he chose to not speak to his doctors , so this entire book is a written account of his life and experiences- it would have been better to do this story in "real time" instead of journaling. There is a movie based on this book, which I also just watched. They are different, but similar enough to get the theme across, but the movie made me cry and the book did not.
