Started out perfect only to let me down.
I LOVED issues 1 and 2 but then issue 3 happened. I hated every second of it.
Amal was a very strong character but then they all took their hijab off to appear strong and come up for their rights. It made it seem that the hijab oppressed them and that wearing a hijab and reading/being strong/having rights can’t go together. It’s just the same old misrepresentation over and over again and it’s soooo frustrating.
We need more stories about positive people with positive lives who happen to be Muslim and talk about it in a normal positive way. As long as there is no balance of both in books/movies/show we don’t need any more negative Muslim representation.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STORY PASSES THE RIZ TEST!!!!!
