I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. Before I came out as a queer woman, I was married to a Sri Lankan Tamil. I experienced quite a bit of their culture, had to wear sarees and got a glimpse of the complicated familial relationships that exist. I can only imagine how hard it must be to come out as queer for a South Asian woman. Lakshmi felt very real to me.
In the end, I really hoped that Lakshmi can get her happily ever after with Tasha, living on her own, with the kitten.
