Unearthed: A Jessica Cruz Story by Lilliam Rivera

1.0

I see what the creative team was going for here, but it just does not work at all. The story comes across as obvious and pandering instead of timely and urgent with no characterization to bring it together or distinguish it from the many other times you’ve read this story in the past few years. The art goes for a Mexican folklore style but instead creates weird linebacker characters who do not have eyes standing in front of empty backgrounds. Seriously, no one in this book has eyes. And it has nothing to do with DC or the original Jessica Cruz or Green Lantern. This isn’t a remixed tale, it’s something else entirely that bears no resemblance to its original beyond a name and publishing company.
