Philip K. Dick: The Last Interview and Other Conversations by Philip K. Dick, David Streitfeld

2.0

If you’re expecting to learn anything which isn’t completely crazy about Dick’s books then reading his interviews will disappoint you. Dick was basically a diagnosed schizophrenic who heard voices in his head, had a messianic complex, and revered some truly despicable human beings. 99% of the book is about his paranoia and can be attributed to his mental illness. The only thing that stuck in my head because of its contemporaneous occurrence was when he spoke a little about his first book, Solar Lottery, and how one of the elements of the book was “presidentially approved assassins working for the government.” Interesting considering Trump’s recent argument that be could kill a political rival as an official duty of the presidency and could NOT be prosecuted for it.
