Preacher - Book Five by Garth Ennis

3.0

Improvement on the last and some alright stories running through, particularly Jesses mum coming to light, however I find the continued use of white men writing in such a way to use racist language, be it nazis or slavery themes, leaves a sour note. It’s not done in a way of sticking up for rights but rather as a shock factor which feels like it’s just trying for a cheap thrill. Use good writing to invoke emotion, not lazy, half hearted racism and attempts at humour through that medium. The Boys tended to do it too and whilst I’m not being PC police, I think there’s a line that Ennis and co fall over a bit too often.
