Iron Hearted Violet by Kelly Barnhill

3.0

2.5*. This was a very over-stretched and pretentiously stylized simplistic fairytale. I did finish it, and it was ok to pass the time. But the book is conceptually incoherent, as if the author was striving for originality, but ended up throwing the entire kitchen sink of fairytale and mythological cliches at the story and hoped that something will stick in original ways.

So, although the book speaks a lot about hearts, I found it unfortunately devoid of that crucial organ.
It's very sad, I was hoping to like this book.
