I finally finished reading this series after starting with the first book over a decade ago (when I was in the target age bracket.) It's been a delight! Very sweet, but also harrowing at times. I feel like there were some elements brought in that were extraneous, better for a slightly longer series, but they didn't take away from my enjoyment.
