Basilisk by Graham Masterton

How is this person a best-selling author? Although this is a fantasy/horror novel, the story is still set in the real world, but no character speaks or behaves in a remotely believable manner. And don’t get me started on the misogyny—all women in this book are basically introduced by their physical appearance and are often not even given names (Egyptian-looking nurse, black nurse). Spectacularly bad!
