Odd Man Out by James Newman

5.0

I will not lie, this book was difficult to get through. The author forces the reader to be apart of something so disturbing that I actually recoiled at some parts. That, I believe, is the point of this book. It is meant for you to be disgusted by the last page, and to make you question your own morals and ability to stick up for victims of bullying; and it makes men, in particular, question the level of toxic masculinity that has influenced our own lives. Also, what made this book difficult to get through is that this story, while fictional (I think), the level of violence and bullying depicted has happened to people in real life, and continues to happen, sadly.

Overall, I was able to read the book in one sitting, and could not put it down, though I literally had to pause and gather myself a few times. This book should definitely be required reading.
