This has been languishing around my house for years. I'm determined to clear some things out, so I'm trying to read the books I've got. This was a pretty typical middle-grade fantasy novel. I liked the notion of the twins, but the twist at the end I spotted from almost the very beginning. I also didn't buy the resolution of the main conflict at all. Finally, it feels a lot like a series starter, but it's not. That leaves a sense of things being unfinished, though everything is wrapped up. Mostly a forgettable read.

Thanks to the publisher for an advance reader's copy, likely acquired at ALA many, many moons ago.
