At Canaan's Edge: America in the King Years, 1965-68 by Taylor Branch

This book was long and very thought provoking. While I see the importance of telling the story of the War in Vietnam alongside the Civil Rights Movement, I found the back and forth a bit jarring and the level of detail about Vietnam heavy handed compared to (1) my level of interest (2) the scope and title of the book. I am also interested to learn more about the fissures among leadership, which were described in some depth but not as much as I would have preferred. Finally, I would have been eager for more behind the scenes accounts of administrative procedures in the Civil Rights Movement, but I know many readers prefer the story of public demonstrations.
