La gemella silenziosa by Claudia Marseguerra, S.K. Tremayne

4.0

I liked this book very much. I don’t really know why, because there were some aspects that I really didn’t like, however I couldn’t stop reading it!

Cover: I like it, it gives the sense of creepiness of the setting.

Characters: that was one of the points that I couldn’t stand. Let’s start with the twins, or better, the living twin, she was extremely capricious and hateful: she complains about not having friends and that nobody wants her and then, when she’s at school she behaves like a crazy that speaks alone (or with her “ghost sister”) and doesn’t even try to act like a normal child (I mean, I get that she’s traumatized but come on…).
The more the story went on, the more I hated Sarah (she complains about the fact that her daughter is going crazy but she doesn’t even take her to a psychotherapist).
I liked Angus, he had always tried to protect both her wife and her daughter, also by complying with Sarah’s crazy decisions.

Suspense: There were some points during the story in which there was suspense and I really liked them. I couldn’t stop reading! In addition, besides those points of suspense, the “creepy” factor was always there. That was given by the setting (the dark, wintry, foggy island) and by the “madness” of the twin.

Ending: It was I little too open for me, the fact that wasn’t really clear what really happened has disappointed me. However, I loved the fact that
Spoiler Kirstie got better thanks to therapy, that now she has new friends and that she’s happy but above all that Angus and Kirstie will be able to move on and live a “happy” life
.

I liked this book, it was creepy and entertaining, I would suggest reading it!
