What Alice Forgot
by Liane Moriarty
Liane Moriarty does it again with her novel What Alice Forgot: drawing in the reader, creating a wonderful plot, writing beautiful characters, and opening our eyes to opposing perspectives. I loved the idea behind this book: what happens if we skip 10 years of our life? Moriarty prompts the reader to reflect on character development and how a person may change over intervals of life. She provides a setting in which one woman gets to glimpse what it's like to view her life objectively from an earlier perspective, letting readers think about how life experiences shape who we are.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ending of this book. It was not what I was expecting by any means, but was done in such a way that only Liane Moriarty could do. It is happy, it is heartwarming, it is thoughtful, it is frustrating, and it is comical.
Highly recommend this book! It is a lovely story that raises self-reflection while also entertaining.
