Shore to Die by Valerie Wolzien

3.0

Shore to Die by Valerie Wolzien is a cozy mystery written in the mid-1990's. Josie Pigeon, the new owner of Island Contracting is the main protagonist along with liquor store owner and former prosecuting attorney Sam Richardson. Island Contracting has an all-woman construction crew and is working on an old house on the north end of the island. Josie discovers a murdered body under a drop cloth that later disappears.

With difficult clients, a probable murderer on her construction crew, an ex-boyfriend and his father on the police force, and Sam offering to help investigate, Josie has her hands full. The novel has some nice humor sprinkled throughout but some of the actions that Josie takes make me cringe and her definite lack of business knowledge is frightful.

While this was an enjoyable book that was sometimes amusing, it wasn't captivating to me. However, if you enjoy cozy mysteries, you may feel differently.
