Bone Soup: A Spooky, Tasty Tale by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

4.0

I love this take on Stone Soup, the folk Tale. Meet Naggy, Craggy and Scraggy - 3 witches. Piff-Poof It's a treat. On Halloween night the witches are hungry (which doesn't bode well for their ability to get through winter with no food) and have a bone. They go to all the monsters in town and come up with a really good soup for all to share.

I found the artwork cute with lots of mood and atmosphere that is dark in a cute way. The best part is the recipe at the end of the book so you can make it. It translates each ingredient to something we can eat. ex. a lizard's tail is 2 stalks of celery. Piff-Poof it's totally delicious. It actually looks pretty yummy.

The nephew gave this 5 stars and the niece gave it 3, but she wants to make the recipe. So her mom is going to make it with her. We'll see how the colored flies come out. I love books like this.
