Wild Spaces by S.L. Coney

I went into this blind—I picked it up based off of the cover and just because it was short at only 119 pages. And boy was I pleasantly surprised. This short coming of age story starts off pretty slow, but packs a punch. Watching an idyllic family spiral into unexplainable tension was such a visceral experience in this book. The author adds just enough detail to suck you in, while leaving enough to the imagination to really make you put yourself into the experience.
