Himlen är alltid högre by Jonas Moström

This is a Swedish book which isn't yet available in English as far as I know, but I'm feeling too lazy to review it in Swedish ;)

I made the mistake of looking at the reviews for this book before reading it, and almost didn't start. Flat characters, preposterous story, disappointing ending, apparently this book had it all (or didn't).

Well that'll teach me! This book is a thriller, so IMO its basic purpose is to be thrilling, which it certainly was for me. I was on the edge of my seat from an early point and that feeling didn't let up until the end. I thought there was just enough character development to give people motives for various actions, but not so much it interrupted the tension, which is about right for me, some people may have wanted more. On the basis of suspense alone, it would be a five star, but I thought the final climax/showdown was over a bit quickly, and could have been drawn out for more satisfaction.
