Spanning seven decades, The Hearts Invisible Furies is a compelling and beautiful novel which follows Cyril Avery as he navigates life with his adoptive parents in post-war Dublin. At its core, the novel examines Cyril’s struggles with his sexuality in conservative Ireland as he deals with his quest for self-acceptance. The story is an emotional rollercoaster filled with both sadness and joy. I absolutely loved Cyril and felt a mixture of emotions when the novel ended, as I simply didn’t feel ready to let go of him.
