The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson
2.0

I started reading this in the daytime, but I've been having trouble sleeping and seemed to keep waking up around 3 AM, just like the characters of this book. So I started reading it at 3 AM and the book went from interesting to creepy real fast! In fact, the only time it was scary was my 3 AM reads in the dark, where your imagination is running wild and your mind plays tricks on you. Was it a scary book? Not really. Was it well written? Yes.

The Afterwards mentioned The Warrens, known con artist that inspired The Conjuring films, where I started rolling my eyes hard. If they say "yes this is real" to anything, you can immediately write it off. This is sold as a "retelling of true events" but I view it as a well written piece of fiction. I enjoyed the writing but I wouldn't put it on my top horror list anytime soon.
