I'd DNF'd Finn but liked August, so I wasn't sure what to expect from Hollis.
It was...fine.
I liked Hollis and Ford but desperately wanted to see more of the emotional side of their relationship. I really liked seeing them in their robes, doing puzzles and would've liked to see more moments like that.
The development of their relationship felt a bit...off, all in all.
I absolutely hated that motorcycle accident-induced revelation, as well.
And just for once I'd like people to actually lean into the dynamic and not just throw the word "daddy" around. It didn't really do anything for the scenes.
Speaking of smut: getting real tired of "juicy". It wasn't as bad as in "Finn", where some of the word choices were so bad I decided to dnf but it was pretty close.
There were also quite a few confusing moments and continuity errors, which was a bit disappointing and messed with the flow of the story.
(Like: Hollis figuring out it's Ford he's chatting with and deciding to take it slow because Ford is likely to spook, only to immediately turn around and tell him. Or the Wednesday dinner that's apparently so, so important but then he just...doesn't go.)
I know Gentry is next but I'm not sure I'll stick around for that one, at this point.
