Ok, that was awesomely scary.
A little slow to get going, but once it did, hoo-boy. It felt a bit like watching a good horror movie. I was on the edge of my seat, pulse pounding the entire time. And the twist, I thought, worked pretty well.
It is bloody and gory, so if you don't care to read those kinds of things, you may want to pass on this one. And this is where I would normally mention potential triggers, but in this case, I am unsure as to how to do that without spoiling the story.
The author's note at the end actually really added to the story, so I'm glad that was included.
