Angel of the Overpass by Seanan McGuire

4.0

I was torn giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because I've really enjoyed my time with Rose Marshall, but this book starts out confusing because it centers around events that happened in a completely different series that I haven't read. It was jarring and incongruous, making me constantly feel like I skipped a book or something... Which, in a way, I did.

This series is in the same universe as the Incryptid series, which I do intend to read, but the book practically assumes you have read that. It could have done a much better job of explaining those events or could have at least had a blurb at the beginning explaining why the reader might feel lost.

That said, this series is still excellent and im glad I found it in time for Halloween since I always try to read at least one themed book this time of year, even if it's not full-blown horror. The ghostroads series, and Rose Marshall, really feels like a campfire ghost story come to life.
