A Living Nightmare by Darren Shan

This is definitely just an 'okay' book that I would only recommend for YA who it is meant for. I feel like I'm missing something because I read so much about this series and I really liked the movie.

The book itself bored me to the point where even though I could of easily read it in one sitting, it took me three days of stopping and starting to finish it. I found it really slow and I wasn't really interested in it until the end.

Apart from that, practically nothing happened.

I read this fully knowing that it is classed as a YA book and I knew that it wouldn't be as sophisticated as some of my recent reads - and I normally enjoy YA books - but I couldn't enjoy the way this was written. It was boring at some points and felt like I was reading something wrote by a 12 year old at others.

First person narrative is something that irks me anyway but in this case I felt like it would of highly improved the book if it wasn't in it. As much as I like a book from one perspective (it can sometimes be done in an extremely personal manner that can enhance a book!), this book was juvenile at times since the character is so young and not in a good way - more like 'you are so annoying and I want to slap you' way.

All in all, I own the second book in the series and may read it out of curiosity at a later date but I am not expecting much.
