Slice of Desire by H.N. DeFore
Did not finish book. Stopped at 50%.
DNF at 50%.
While I have greatly enjoyed the entire series, this particular story wasn't for me.
What I enjoyed with the stories of the previous couples is that there was a good emotional connection between the couples and not just physical. Also that the couples took care in discussing boundaries and expectations. Both were missing in this story up to the point where I decided to put it away.
•I personally felt that the relationship between Emeric and Serenity felt forced: they worked together and didn't like each other. They have one flirty "moment," and then Serenity decides to jump on that 🍆;
• I got the ick from the way that club members were speculating about whether Serenity has ever had intercourse or not;
• I got the ick from Serenity not reacting swiftly to a club member's clearly distressed response to another club member;
• I got the ick with the way Emeric talked about how he broke her hymen and took her virginity with his finger. First of all, it's 2024, and we should all know that there is no such thing as a literal barrier that covers the 😼 and gets broken;
• I got the ick of the family drama that was embedded with purity culture.
TLDR; this instalment just wasn't for me.
