Tao Te Ching by Laozi

Jika dia tidak mengetahui tetapi berasa dirinya tahu, itulah sejenis penyakit.

Tao Te Ching is a classical text written by one of the prominent Chinese philosophers, Lao Tzu back then in 6th century which Taoism is based on. Full disclosure here, I have little to no experience at all reading a classical text thus I found this a bit tough to read and even more difficult to digest what the author actually meant. However, the fault is all mine as i am a bit of uncultured swine to comprehend sort of a philosophical / self help-ish/ mystical collection of sayings compiled in the book. I can appreciate that the translator added footnotes on the central ideas of Taoism in some pages in the book which i find very helpful to keep me on continuing the book. At the end of the day, Tao Te Ching possesed many great values as many consider it as an important book that ‘one must read it at least once in their lifetime’. Enjoy the beauty of this text for what it is - kinda match made in heaven between literary and philosophy. As for the context of these texts, most of it were written during during an era of war and political uprising. Hence, the book can still give us glimpses into a different culture that some readers might not be familiar of. Overall, i would recommend this only if you love poetry / Quotes and reading something that you might not yet grasp the meaning behind them doesnt bother you at all. Again, i would like to say thanks to bibliobuku for giving this book as my birthday gift.
