I initially bought this book because I had yet to read a book with my name as the main character's name. I was 14 when I read this book and I loved the themes of sisterhood, magic, the magic school, the mysterious mother figure. I found the magic system really unique and enjoyed the regency London setting. I thought the book was so refreshing to read when I did and remains one of my childhood favourites.
