Send No Flowers by Sandra Brown

2.0

This is bottom tier for Brown. The characters, except for the adorable kids, were bland and the big secret was apparent from the start. The language was strangely archaic which doesn’t work with a “modern” book. And the purple prose was just too much at times. There was so much unnecessary sex that did nothing to move the plot forward. It was Widow perfect met Mr. Perfect. They held off on sex, finally had sex, broke up due to a Big Secret, got together, broke up…
I much prefer Ms. Brown’s older or darker works because at least they rouse emotions. This was meher than meh. Honestly, I would have preferred for the story to have ended on a sadder note in order to have felt something more than frustrated boredom with the characters.
