Some Kind of Happiness by Claire Legrand

How to rate this book eludes me.

Some Kind of Happiness is a lovely middle grade novel. It resonated with me very deeply. I saw my own depression, anxiety and coping mechanisms in Finley. It was well written, and the characters were all well developed. The minor exception would be the three aunts, who I could never remember who was who, but that might be on me more than the author.

Despite some of the fantastical elements, this book is largely an introspective family drama. This was not a high stakes book, and the final "twist" wasn't surprising. Yet within a few chapters I found the book impossible to set down.

So again, was this a 3 star book? 4 stars? I don't know, but I do know that I will add this novel on to the list of books that explain me better than I could myself.
