Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Nine, Volume 2: On Your Own by Scott Allie, Andrew Chambliss, Joss Whedon

3.0

As a devoted fan of the TV show, I had some difficulty adjusting to the world in comic form. Season 8 felt scattered and far-fetched (even for BtVS). With this volume from Season 9, the storyline has evened out and found its thread.

Highlights of this volume: flashbacks of Nikki, Principal Wood's mother, run in parallel along Buffy's anguish at her pregnancy. Bringing back plot elements of the Buffybot in the copy of Buffy and her relationship with Spike kept a nostalgic feel to the plot, while still exploring Buffy's uncertain future.

As always, the great artwork and beautiful coloring make this a TPB to treasure. I always love seeing preliminary sketches and other background material at the end of the book as well.
