Cursed by Ice: The Immortal Brothers by Jacquelyn Frank

Once again I have decided to read a series out of order, or rather just this one book. It was interesting, to say the least. I liked the main hero and the heroine but there was something missing. I got this book a few years ago and it has been wasting away on my TBR shelf since then. It needed to be read, and that shelf needs to be knocked down.
So we have 4 brothers who ticked off their idols after searching and finding some fountain of immortality. Yes, the gods were pissed. So pissed that they cursed each of the brothers WAAAYY too harshly in my opinion. One was chained to a star, one buried alive, one chained to a mountain, and the last one cast in the 8th layer of hell. All for drinking from a fountain that promises immortality.
This book focuses on Garreth, who now holds a spot in the Book Boyfriend's Hall of Fame along with few others. Garreth's curse is to freeze to death every night while in the day he fights for some goddess named Weysa. Now the book says he meets a beautiful warrior woman who commands a mythic beast and he falls for her. However, loving her may jeopardize the pact he made with Weysa.
The book was actually nicely written, not cringy, and the sauna scenes were nice and not over the top or crude. The story did not drag out, kept me interested, and I actually liked 3 characters. The only reason I gave this book 3 stars was because it just didn't leave a soft spot on my heart. It was a quick, easy read that helped me forget that we are in a pandemic and I now have a mortgage to pay. Will I read the other books? Eh, maybe? Depends. Let's be honest, my TBR ain't getting smaller and I gotta put a dent in that thing. Still, it's a nice read to kill time.

Sarielle is another one. Great girl, lovely, but soft. I was expecting this bada$$ warrior commanding a dragon and cutting off heads but all we really got was dragon still in puberty and soft slave girl. The only reason I picked up this book was for the warrior part.
Then there is Dethan. Dethan painted Garreth to be selfish and somewhat hopeless. When in fact Dethan was the one I saw as selfish. He claimed he wanted to protect his brother from Weysa but I honestly think he was just trying to protect himself and get back to his wife and child.
Davine. We all know someone like Davine, without the sob story. The girl who is just treacherous and looking out for her own well being. Her saving grace though was the guilt she felt at the end. HOWEVER, with friends like her, you don't need any enemies. I would have forgiven her, gave her a home, job, food, and money. Just not around me or in my city. She already showed her scales once, and that was enough.

So the gods in this book are just plain cruel. Like nothing about them is benevolent. They are like toddlers and hormonal teenagers. I personally can't stand Weysa and if I had been chained to a mountain for centuries for drinking from a fountain that your sibling goddess of a sister placed in my view then yea I would have been rooting for the gods to fall.
