Darling Days: A Memoir by

5.0

So first of all, this book is poetic and lyrical in a way that likely comes across better on the page than when spoken aloud, where it can sound a little "trying too hard". That being said, this is one of the most unique and insane biographies I have ever read, and I highly recommend it.

What I loved most is that while much of it is written in the present tense, iO has enough distance from these events to show compassion and understanding for himself and for the incredibly flawed and self centered people around him. This book walks a fine line, and you end up having compassion for those around him, even as you see the truly horrific things they are doing and the awful ways it affects this poor kid.

I include trigger warnings for child abuse, domestic violence and drug use here - this book will not be for everyone. However, if you like dark books, this is great.
