Press Start to Play by John Joseph Adams, Daniel H. Wilson

3.0

Like most short story collections that I’ve read, there are some really great ones and some really awful ones. That makes it difficult to rate, but I’d say it’s between 3 and 3.5. This was a really cool collection because it was centered around video games. Some of the stories that I liked most were NPC by Charles Yu, 1 Up by Holly Black, Roguelike by Marc Laidlaw, and The Clockwork Solider by Ken Liu. Due to the fact that I haven’t really read much or anything by these authors, it gives me some new material to read, which I particularly like. However, I really didn’t like Twarrior by Andy Weir (which sucks because he’s the biggest author in this book, and even though I hated Artemis I loved The Martian), Outliers by Nicole Feldringer, and Survival Horror by Seanan McGuire. It’s definitely worth a read for gamers out there though.
