The Gift by Alison Croggon

I really wish that I could've loved this one. It was recommended to me by a friend many years ago and I saw the talking book on the shelf at the library and thought 'why not?'.

The narrator was beautiful and the description of the world was beautiful but this book just wasn't for me.

The audiobook has 16 CD's which worked out to be about 20 hours of listening. I got up to CD 10 and decided to stop, the story wasn't interesting me anymore and I found myself continuously daydreaming and missing lots of the story because I wasn't listening.

I love 'Lord of the Rings' and the book seemed to start off like that and I noticed that many aspects reminded me of it too but there wasn't enough action and storyline to keep me engaged.

I would recommend this book for anyone who is a die hard fan of fantasy but doesn't mind their story to be slow. If you are looking for an epic tale you might find it here after reading all the series but for the most part of book one it wasn't epic at all.
