The Crucible by Arthur Miller

2.0

Pretty good, but the intrusive monologues the author stuck in at the most inopportune times imaginable were irritating, pretentious, and nonsensical. The book would have been much better without these ramblings, and the absence of them in the second and third acts was part of the reason why I liked them more. The sort-of epilogue wasn’t much better. Artie should have stuck to the actual story, which was actually fairly questionable in its own way. If I were ever to reread this, I would deign to skip the aforementioned disagreeable parts, which I hate to do. Solid three stars.
Edit: dropping it down to two after further reflection.
