Batman/Superman Vol. 1: Who Are the Secret Six? by Joshua Williamson

3.0

I'm reading this as part of The Batman Who Laughs Chronology. The series started with the [b:Dark Nights: Metal|36268449|Dark Nights Metal|Scott Snyder|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1516032051l/36268449._SY75_.jpg|57924142] books, which were scattered and disappointing, followed by a [b:Justice League, Volume. 2: Graveyard of Gods|40997700|Justice League, Volume. 2 Graveyard of Gods|Scott Snyder|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1556662742l/40997700._SY75_.jpg|63966860] book which was practically detached from the story, and entirely uninteresting, and then spinning into [b:The Batman Who Laughs|44132735|The Batman Who Laughs|Scott Snyder|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1565715046l/44132735._SX50_.jpg|68626442] which was excellent. It wa sort of refreshing to get to this volume which is ... ok.

The storytelling is fine. The plot points are stupid, but comic book stupid not bad writing stupid, and the art is above average. I was never fully invested in this story but I never had the desire to put it down. But I read it a week ago, and now can't really remember anything other than how it picked up the thread of The Man Who Laughs and tossed Superman back in the mix. Ehhh.

If you like DC books, this one is better than most of its recent peers. And it's a fine chapter in The Man Who Laughs saga, but otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to pick this up.
